The calls is in response to the controversy surrounding the planned sale of a 60% stake in four alleged underperforming hotels.
Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem on Tuesday, Mr Koomson said Mr. Osafo-Maafo is ultimately responsible for the management of SSNIT’s investments, which extend beyond the hotels in question.
He attributed the underperformance of the hotels to poor management rather than low patronage, and criticized the lack of consultation before the decision to sell the stake.
“He [Osafo-Maafo] is responsible for whatever goes on at SSNIT. There are different investments and not just the hotels across. If you are unable to manage these investments for our contributions to make a profit, then we have a problem,” Mr Koomson stated.
“The most annoying thing is that the hotel business in this country is not bad. If you don’t employ qualified and competent people to run the hotels, then that is another serious problem.
“Especially when these hotels are located along the oceans where tourists lodge. The patronage is not low, it’s a management problem. There was no consultation before the sale,” he added.
Mr Koomson further stressed that, Mr. Osafo-Maafo should be held accountable for SSNIT’s current situation.
“Osafo-Maafo should be blamed because he is in charge,” he added.
