Abraham Amaliba appointed Acting DG of Road Safety Authority

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Abraham Amaliba as the Acting Director-General of the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), effective January 23, 2025.

Currently serving as the Director of Conflict Resolution for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Amaliba’s appointment is in line with Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 13(2) of the National Road Safety Authority Act, 2019 (Act 993). His appointment is pending the receipt of constitutionally required advice from the Authority’s governing Board in consultation with the Public Services Commission.

Mr. Amaliba has been formally notified and is expected to indicate his acceptance within 14 days.

The President extended his congratulations to Mr. Amaliba, wishing him success in his new role. This appointment is seen as an important step towards strengthening road safety and ensuring effective leadership of the NRSA.

Key stakeholders, including the Vice President, the Chief of Staff, the Minister of Transport, the Board Chairman of the NRSA, and the Chairperson of the Public Services Commission, have been informed of the appointment.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, on January 23.
