Ablakwa demands publication of all public lands

-

Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has called on the Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Samuel Abu Jinapor to publish a list of all public lands.

Mr Ablakwa has said a compilation will help Ghanaians know whether or not public lands are being sold.

“Do you know that the Lands Commission came under oath to confess that public lands are being sold as private land? Will you believe that? So we have a messy situation, a total mess, a hot mess. So it is not about your directives.

“So let’s get to the basics. Publish the list. Let’s have the list. Put the compilation together,” he demanded in an interview on Accra-based Citi FM.

The Lands Minister at a press conference on Wednesday assured that all public lands are safe and intact, dismissing allegations and misinformation of state capture.

Mr Jinapor challenged persons accusing the government to provide evidence to support their claims.

But Mr Ablakwa has insisted that the government is illegally leasing state lands to its associates.

“This is a big joke. We have to go back to the basics…the last minister told us in Parliament that the president has requested a compilation. He hasn’t been able to provide a compilation. I mean, why are we such a joke as a country?” he questioned.
