Abdulai Bashiru Appointed as Acting EOCO Executive Director

-

President John Mahama has appointed Abdulai Bashiru as the Acting Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

The appointment was confirmed in a letter from the presidency, aligning with constitutional provisions and the mandate of the EOCO Act.

“The appointment was made in accordance with Article 195(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 11(1) of the Economic and Organised Crime Act, 2010 (Act 804),” stated a letter signed by the Executive Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama.

Mr. Bashiru replaces COP Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, whose appointment was revoked a few days ago.

He will assume the role in an acting capacity pending the receipt of the constitutionally required advice from the EOCO governing board, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.

The presidency expressed confidence in Bashiru’s leadership and his capacity to steer EOCO in its vital mission to combat economic and organised crime in Ghana.
