Ghana defender Abdul Mumin has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury.
The enterprising centre-back sustained the injury during Rayo Vallecano’s 1-1 draw against Sevilla over the weekend, forcing him off in the 35th minute.
According to reports in the Spanish media, the 26-year-old will be sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.
Mumin has been a key figure for Vallecano, making 24 appearances out of 26 La Liga games this season. He also ranks first for blocks in the league.
His injury comes as a major setback ahead of Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar on March 21 and March 24, respectively.
The defender is now expected to miss those crucial fixtures but could return for matchday seven and eight of the qualifiers.
Mumin has two caps for the Black Stars.
