President Akufo-Addo has promised that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will boost the morale of the security forces to protect and ensure law and order in the country.
Speaking at the State of the Nation Address in parliament, the Commander-in-Chief of the country said the police will be supplied with modern equipment and gadgets worth 800 million Cedis to support their activities.
According to Nana Addo, the equipment will improve the responsiveness of the police and ensure a safe environment for Ghanaians to enjoy and thrive.
President Akufo-Addo added that, equipment such as drones and helicopters will also be on board to assist in fighting crime in the country.
The President also noted that a Crime, Laboratories, Intelligence Units and proper forensic teams will be created and in addition, police officers will compensated to boost their morale in ensuring the safety of citizens.
“We will give the police the resources they need and the initial amount of about 800 millions cedis to procure and supply modern equipment and gadgets to enforce law and order. We will also give one thousand vehicles to aid in their activities…” he said.
He further maintained that, “To long term, we will allow drones and helicopters to assist crime. The crime laboratories will be equipped and the intelligence units will be strengthem. A compensation package will be introduced to cover officers in their line of duty…” Nana Addo stressed.
The president further promised that there will be no hiding place for criminals. I will boost morale in the services., I will ensure everyone to support the police.
