President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has been advised not to present a one-sided State of the Nation Address focusing on only government achievements as he delivers his second State of the Nations Address in Parliament today.
According to a Senior Programs Officer at SEND-Ghana, Harriet Nuamah-Agyemang, the president should present a two-phased address to the country.

Speaking Wednesday on Adom FM’s current affairs Burning Issues hosted by Afia Pokua ahead of the president’s address, Nuah-Agyemang said the SONA has both sweet and bitter stories so the president shouldn’t only present the positive side to score political points but rather reveal every aspect.
“This is not the time to list only the achievements of government and neglect the non-performing sectors to score political points but rather reveal every aspect of the economy”, she stressed.
“The implementation of the free SHS policy and restoration of the teacher’s allowances is laudable but there’re some challenges confronting primary education which need to be addressed” Harriet Nuamah-Agyemang advised.

Contributing to the discussion, ranking member on the Works and Housing Committee of Parliament and MP for Bodi, Samson Kwaku Ahi said the president must address the growing insecurity in the country which is a major concern to all citizens.
“The president has woefully failed in maintaining peace and order in the country since he assumed the highest office as president due to activities of vigilante groups” Ahi said.
“Last year he gave numerous promises and we’re expecting him [the President] to explain how his government has achieved those promises” he added.
