Pupils of Sisipe D/A Primary School in the East Gonja District of the Northern Region have in the last couple of weeks been fed with boiled maize by the caterer who has been assigned to the school under the Ghana School Feeding Programme.
The situation is not any different from Matilapo Primary School where the chiefs and people are said to have been angered and are demanding that the caterers of these schools are either withdrawn and the meals improved or both.

“The maize is prepared for us every Tuesday and Thursday and it has neither oil nor pepper and contains no nutritional value” one pupil said.
In a week, six bowls of rice is shared among two schools Sisipe and Matilapo primary which have the same caterer with no fish to cook for the over 200 pupils who are served a ladle of the white rice, rich in only carbohydrates.

The pupils are therefore appealing to the school feeding authority and Gender Minister to come to their aid and resolve the issue.
Meanwhile, the Northern Regional Secretariat of the Ghana School Feeding Programme has described the report as false.
According to the Regional Coordinator, Madam Felicia Tettey, the comprehensive investigations into the report have found the claims to be an absolute baseless fabrication.
