'NDC jealous of Ken Ofori Atta's economic feat'

-

The Minority in Parliament are moving heaven on earth to distract Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta from focusing on reviving Ghana’s economy. This is according to deputy Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.
According to him, the opposition National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) penchant to brand the Finance Minister as corrupt is just for propaganda value.
The motive for this ‘evil’ ploy, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah added is due to the excellence feat chalked by Ken Ofori Atta in just a year as Ghana’s Finance Minister.
His comment is in reaction to Minority’s 14-days ultimatum given to the Finance Minister to resign or else the NDC MPs will trigger a parliamentary procedure to have him removed from office.
The Minority in Parliament also says the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) report faults the Minister for constitutional, statutory and regulatory breaches when he went to raise $2.5billion on the international market last April.
They believe the CHRAJ report is a vindicating breakthrough after more than 11-months of pushing for the Minister’s resignation.
The CHRAJ reports faults Ken Ofori-Atta for not fully declaring his assets in accordance with Public Office Holders (Declaration Of Assets And Disqualification) Act – 1998 (Act 550).
But on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said the Minority has no case.
He explained that, the allegation leveled against the Finance Minister is just a rehash of claims CHRAJ had already vindicated him [Ofori Atta].
The deputy Information Minister said will not achieve their objective because the Finance Minister is focused on reviving Ghana’s economy.
‘The cedi has seen massive improvement Ghana stock exchange composite index going up so the Minority just want to distract Ken Ofori Atta but he is very focused’ he opined.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah noted that, to put matters to rest, the Finance Minister is set to challenge the report of the CHRAJ regarding the controversial 2.25 billion dollar bond to clear his name.
