Former Ghana under-17 playmaker, Awudu Issaka, says skillfulness in football is a gift from God.
He has therefore described his exceptional antics and footballing skills during his playing days as being attributable to God.
According to the former TSV 1860 Munchen player, it is not that mothers of today are unable to give birth to skillful players; rather, it is the duty of the children to search and learn from African greats and desist from the regular watching of foreign football.
“It is the children who are supposed to search to know how some great players used to play football and learn from them; but now, they [the children] are watching European matches; Messi and Ronaldo and these have led to the diminishing of African talents.”
“There are many Coaches in Ghana but they are not able to teach the children how to even place a ball on the head and also, on the legs.” He bemoaned.
The Disco Dancer also explained that, his excellent display on the field during his playing days was as a result of watching African legends such as Jay-Jay Okocha and Abedi Pele who he followed keenly.
“I used to watch skillful players; a player like Jay-Jay Okocha, I learned from him, how he jogged with the ball. I also monitored and learned a lot from Abedi Pele”, he added.
