One week memorial service and commemoration is currently underway for the slain police officer, Inspector, Emmanuel Ashilevi.
It was a day of sorrow when mourners and other sympathisers joined the family of the late police officer at his residence to mark the one-week observation of his death.
Family, friends and colleagues paid glowing tribute to the departed officer whose sudden demise occurred on Sunday January 21, 2018.
Exactly a week ago, armed robbers stormed the District Police Station at Kwabenya shot and killed the police officer who was on monitoring assignment during the attack on January 21.
The robbers also freed some persons in police cells in the process and vandalized the station in the process.
But the Police administration has since arrested key suspects and has intensified search for the remaining armed robbers in the attack.
One of the key suspects who was picked up yesterday has been identified as Kofi Seshie, and named as the man who shot and killed the officer.
Director-General of Public Affairs at the Ghana Police Service, ACP, David Eklu that they are very close to arresting the rest of the fugitives involved in the infamous Kwabenya jailbreak last Sunday.
ACP, David Eklu says information flowing from the public is helping the police to gather intelligence leading to the arrests thus far.
“We are analyzing information flowing from the public and we are very sure that we are very close to arresting the rest of the suspects who are on the run,” he said.
