Operations Manager of premier league Champions Aduana stars, Mr. George Gyawu, says his club declined to play in the upcoming Star Times GFA gala because it would be distruction to their preparations towards the CAF Champions league in February.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa’s Ultimate Sports Show, the long-serving management member of the club maintained that the GALA is a good idea but Aduana Stars would like to stick to their plans towards the African campaign.
According to Mr. Gyawu, the club has lined up three international friendlies to fine-tune themselves since the Ghana Premier League is yet to begin.
“The GALA would have distracted our preparations for the Champions League hence our decision to decline the invitation. Moreover, we know all the Ghanaian clubs and since we will be competing in Africa, we wanted international oppositions”, Mr. Gyawu explained.
He also suggested that the inconsistency in the Ghanaian league calendar has affected his team’s preparations, adding that they could only wish things changed for the better in subsequent seasons.
Mr. Gyawu revealed also revealed that they will not be signing any new players, adding that they would only consider signing on new players when the club makes it to the money zone in the African competition.
Aduana stars beat Borgou Buffaloes 1-0 in their first international friendly courtesy a goal by Elvis Opoku at the Sunyani Coronation Park.
