Entertainment critic, Prince Tsegah, has said the recent fund launched by Nana Appiah Mensah, a businessman and CEO of Xylofon Media to boost the creative arts industry, has exposed the government’s inability to support the creative arts industry making the government look ‘useless’.
The host of ‘You Say Wetin’ on Hitz FM, made the statement last Saturday on Adom Entertainment Hall with Mike 2.
According to him, the government is lagging behind in the implementation of such good policies to support the industry.
“If such an individual like Nana Appiah Mensah should set aside 1 million dollar to support the creative industry then he has made the government very small. And for me, it is a challenge to the government to stand up. If they don’t stand up, Nana Appiah may become creative arts ‘God’. If government does not take care and Nana Appiah takes over the industry, a time will come the government will talk and no one will respond to them”, he said.
The 1 million dollar fund launched was to boost the creative arts industry by giving every member in the industry access to an interest-free loan to support their works.
This, Tsegah said, should become a wake up call to the government to put in place good policies to relieve the dying industry before it becomes worse.
