Recent developments in artificial intelligence mean men will not have to wait very long to bring home a “robot wife”, said David Levy.
The top robotics expert claims people will legally be able to marry their robotic lovers by 2050, in his book Love and Sex with Robots.
The synopsis reads: “The book [is] about how increasing innovation in robotic technology is enabling legitimate romantic and sexual relationships between humans and robots.
The trend can already be seen in Japan, according to the New Statesman.
If men can cough up around £2000, they can install “Hikari” into their bedrooms.
The “wife of the future” creator Minori Takechi has claimed 300 men have already out in their orders for the Hikari prototype.
The green haired, bondage-choker wearing, knicker-flashing Hikari is an “AI construct” designed to be the perfect companion for the lonely single man.
The miniature anime hologram can be popped on a table and Hikari will flirt and giggle and respond to her owner’s sexual fantasies.
But what makes Hikari different to previous prototype is that she’s not all about sex.
The report adds, “Takechi believes the owner’s relationship with a robot wife could one day develop into love.”
Almost half of marriages (40-50% in the US and 42% in the UK) end in divorce, according to official statistics.
And that’s no surprise with 41% of partners confessing to physical or emotional infidelity, Statistic Outbrain revealed.
But humans who make a vow to walk down the aisle with their glamorous cyborg lovers will not be disappointed, experts have claimed.
Top CEO of luxury sex doll company RealDoll Matt McMullen said the robots who loves you back will be faithful and devoted to its human lover – stamping out the risks of divorce and heartbreak.
The sex robot pioneer said: “There is a zero percent chance your robot will cheat on you.
“I think that is a huge appeal to people.
“People are completely and utterly secure in that relationship and they don’t have to worry about getting hurt.”
The book Love and Sex with Robots by David Levy is available online on Amazon and in paperback for £4.57.
