Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahene has stated emphatically that its security apparatus, Invincible Forces would not be disbanded.
According to him, over his dead body would be the Vigilante Group be dissolved; throwing out a call by the NDC to disband them.
“Over my dead body will the Invisible Forces be dissolved. I will personally not allow them to dissolve it. We are in power; we will make sure we discipline the NDC supporters if they fool. These people are just joking. We won’t allow them to dictate to us,” he said on Accra based Neat FM.
The NDC has accused President Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP leadership of allowing their security apparatus to unleash mayhem on its members and innocent Ghanaians, following their electoral victory.
However, NPP deputy General Secretary, Nana Obiri Boahen, said the party could not be held responsible for their perceive actions as according to him, the police and other state security agencies are the ones mandated to maintain law and order.
He maintained that since they did not consult the NDC before constituting the security team, they would not take any order from them regarding the Invincible Forces.
“The invisible forces have been in existence for some years now even when NDC was in power and so how can you now dictate to us. We won’t take any unnecessary lecture from the NDC,” he stressed.
Lawyer Obriri Boahen indicated that the NDC is rather guilty of not doing anything when some NPP supporters were butchered in 2009, after it had taken over power from the NPP.
