Chief of Senchi, Nana Ofei Agyeman II, has condemned attacks on Senchi palace and residents of the town in the Eastern region.
Between 2015 and 2017, thugs hired by some figures in the area were arrested for making the town unsafe.
“Our town previously known for its peaceful atmosphere has not enjoyed relative peace since 2015. Our cherished town has come under all forms of attack by hired macho men aimed at destabilizing social and economic activities of our dear land. I however want to assure you that such acts of intimidation, attack on innocent persons and destruction of property will be a thing of the past,” he said.
The presence of the police has also helped in protecting lives of the people.
He says the situation in the last few years has affected development of the area.
Speaking at their first Akwasidae, Nana Ofei Agyeman II, said Senchi can smoke the peace pipe and carve a new image for itself if they embraced peace.
According to Nana Ofei Agyeman II, Senchi which is in the Akwamu traditional area cannot continue to lag behind in development due to misunderstandings among some factions.
The chief has therefore called on residents to unite against any form of aggression.
He added that he will do his best in getting solutions to the numerous challenges facing the town.
Education, health, unemployment among other critical areas continue be his priority.
As a form of commitment, Nana Ofei Agyeman II said he was instituting an education fund to help less privileged children in the community.
Meanwhile, Adontenhene of the area, Nifa division, Nana Oduro Gyan Dapaa is not too happy about how prosecuting thugs arrested for causing mayhem has been slow.
“Those arrested have not been appearing in court and it looks as if the other faction has taken advantage to do same because none of them has been sentenced yet. Now we say no to such things because we are ready to develop Senchi,” he indicated.
The occasion saw some chiefs swearing the oath of allegiance to the chief of Senchi, Nana Ofei Agyeman II.
