The Chief of Jato in the Suhum Municipality of the Eastern Region, Baffuor Teitey Adjewi Narh is urging President Nana Akuffo Addo to remember to fulfill his campaign promise he made in the run-up to the 2016 general elections of establishing a distilling factory in the area when he is voted into power.
According to him, the area which has never voted for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) since the Fourth Republic decided to change their voting pattern and massively threw their support behind the NPP because of the assurances given them by the then NPP Flagbearer.
“President Akufo Addo during his campaign visited this area and told us that his one-district one factory programme will be implemented here in Jato by building a distillery for us to help in our brewing of Akpeteshie. We were so excited about that hence we voted massively for the NPP to get its first electoral victory in this area since 1992. We believe in Nana honour his promise. This is a gentle reminder.”
Baffuor Teitey Adjewi Narh was hopeful that the building of the distillery will see the return of the teeming youth of the area who have left in search of greener pastures elsewhere due to the collapse of the distilling business.
He further appealed to President Akufo Addo to ensure that the price of sugar and other materials used in the distilling business is reduced to keep them in business.
