A member of the communication team of Dreams FC, Mr. Jerome Otchere has advised Asante Kotoko to withdraw from the 2018 CAF Confederations Cup tournament.
He told Asempa FM that he believes the 2017 MTN FA CUP winners are not ready and will just ridicule themselves in the competition.
The former administrator of the Kumasi based-club after watching Asante Kotoko lose to his current employers concluded the Nation’s African representatives are not ready in any way for the competition given their style of play and the quality of their players.
“I do not think the Asante Kotoko team Dreams FC beat yesterday is not ready to compete in the Confederations Cup. They do not have a formidable team worthy of success on the continent. Their defense was tired after 60mins of play and that is bad”, Jerome said.
“I cannot tell the team to withdraw now but I think their participation in the African competition will be a waste of time. We lack the right structures here in Ghana and we only think once a Premier league club qualifies for the competition at the end of the season, the club must participate in the CAF organized competition.
“I deem it as defrauding fans if Ghanaian clubs cannot reach the third round these African competitions. Asante Kotoko for me after what I saw does not a team strong enough to do well in the Confederations cup”, Jerome added.
The astute journalist concluded by saying the Ghanaian clubs we have now cannot compete favorably in Africa and are just wasting money.
