The District Health Director for Awutu Senya in the Central Region, Patricia Antwi has appealed to the government and other stakeholders to as a matter of urgency, come to their aid due to inadequate labour ward equipment to improve delivery in the District.
According to Mrs. Antwi, it is very difficult to save lives of babies during delivery since the hospital lacks the appropriate equipment to ease their work.
The Health Director explained that the District Assembly has constructed maternity wards for the District but due to lack of beds and other important amenities, the ward has been neglected.
The Health Director disclosed this when citizens of Senya Breku who are based in Italy donated 2-ultra-modern Hospital beds, 20 mattresses and 20 tables costing GH₵ 60,000.00 to revive and renovate the Awutu Senya health centre.
Mrs. Antwi cautioned nurses and health workers to avoid maltreating patients and rather have a good heart for patience.
She said the health centre must be well kept and maintained.
Spokesperson for Senya Citizens in Italy, Kenneth Brown also called on the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to reduce taxes on health equipment so that, they can always come to the aid of poor health centres in the country.
The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West Constituency, Nenyi George Andah who received the items on behalf of the District urged the District Health Director to make good use of the hospital equipment.
He also commended the Awutu Senya citizens abroad for their heart-warming gesture to improve the health status of sick patients in the district.
