A lecturer of the Central University, Benjamin Yaw Otchere-Ankrah is proposing corporal punishment to fight the sanitation problem in the country.
In his view, a dirty slap for anyone who commits sanitation offense will deter others from doing same.
Mr. Otchere-Ankrah made the comment in an Adom FM’s Felix Anim-Appau Wednesday.
He said the numerous interventions rolled out by successive governments to solve the sanitation problems in the country have not work due to the recalcitrant nature of Ghanaians.
The only way out, the lecturer noted, is for the military to be deployed to all parts of the country to check people.
In what he called ‘one-drop one-slap policy’, he explained the soldiers should give anyone who litters some dirty slaps to serve as a deterrent to others.
Mr. Otchere-Ankrah also appealed to government to provide rubbish bins at vantage points for people not to have any excuse to litter around.
