-

Former Black Stars defender, Samuel Osei Kuffuor known in football circles as “Sammy Tuga” has stated clearly that the Black Stars of Ghana can not win AFCON 2019.
He explained that, the current players lack the character and winning spirit to bring the trophy home.
Sammy Kuffuor comment comes after the Ghana Football Association (GFA) set the ultimate of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations as one of the primary targets for  coach Kwasi Appiah.
They believe the teams ability to win the African cup will win back the support of Ghanaians.
But the Bayern Munich Legend in an interview with Graphic Sports said the target set is too ambitious.
“Our target must be 2021. The current crop cannot win in 2019. I think we need to do more, we need to prepare very well and make sure we are ready”.
“It is not easy as we think, every country will be going for the title and they will be preparing very well and so we must also do well to prepare”, he told Graphic Sports.
The nation has failed to win the title since 1982 .
Sammy Kuffuor won the Under 17 World Championship with Ghana  a 14 year-old in 1991.
He won more than 58 caps for Ghana, was sent home from the 2002 African Cup of Nations over a breach of discipline.
He also played in the 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2006 African Cup of Nations for Ghana.
The former Black Stars center-back retired from active football in 2008.
