Controversial counselor, George Lutherodt is calling for stiffer punishment for parents of the teenage boys who raped a young girl at Bantama in the Ashanti region.
According to him, the conduct of the boys is due to negligence and bad parental guide thus they [suspects] should not be punished.
His comment comes after a video of four teenage boys allegedly gang-raping a young girl sparked outrage on social media with some calling on the security agencies to crack the whip.
The about five minutes video shows an underage girl pinned to a mattress by one of her abusers while his accomplices take turns to perform sexual acts on her.
It is now known that the suspects are juveniles with one in Junior High School and two in Senior High School.
Police arrested some of the suspects and were arranged in court but the police has assured the other four teenagers involved in the act will be arrested.
But in an exclusive interview on KOFI TV, counselor Lutherodt commended the police for the swift response.
He however urged them to arrest the parents of the young boys to serve as a deterrent to other irresponsible parents.
The outspoken counselor wondered why such young teenagers are exposed to sex if indeed they have good parental care.
“What was the girl doing there; I hear her boyfriend was part of the group and I wonder what a girl of that age will have a boyfriend for” he bemoaned.
Counselor Lutherodt called on the police to allow the boys to sweep some principal streets in Kumasi f found guilty.
