Management member of Accra Hearts of Oak, Alhaji Akambi has said that he took GHC 3,600 for the club to provide accommodation to players of the junior side who lived outside the capital.
Responding to allegations of squandering monies provided for player accommodation, the long serving member on the board of Hearts of Oak revealed he only took the money to renovate one of his apartments for
the players for a period of three years.
According to him, upon seeing an earlier apartment proposed in Asylum Down, he thought it was expensive and not conducive for the players and he then decided to offer his property at New Town in Accra at a
lower cost.
“I did not spend any money like it’s been purported out there. I only took the money to provide accommodation to the players who were sleeping at the secretariat”, Akambi explained.
“The room they got earlier at Asylum Down was expensive and I decided to renovate my place for the players and I charged them for three years at a very low price”.
Alhaji Akambi has come under immense criticism from teaming fans of
Accra Hearts of Oak, suggesting he is the main cause of the club’s woes.
