Ghana News – Ghana@60 worth celebrating but…

-

Former Diplomat, KB Asante is cautioning the Akufo-Addo government is put our monies to good use in the celebration of Ghana’s 60th anniversary.

According to him, given the scandals that rocked Ghana@50 celebrations, Ghanaians don’t want such shameful acts to recur.

Mr. Asante’s sentiments comes following the inauguration of a 30-member Planning Committee for the Diamond Jubilee celebration of the country.

March 6, 2017 will mark the 60th Anniversary of Ghana’s independence from British colonial rule in 1957.

The Committee to be chaired by Ken Amankwah with representatives from strategic state institutions including the army and police service is expected to work out activities to mark the celebration.

But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, KB Asante said though the people on the Planning Committee are many, “Ghana@60 is worth celebrating”.

“I don’t believe in huge committee; the number is too huge. A handful of people can do the work” he stressed.

The former Diplomat however bemoaned Ghana’s current state despite high expectations at the time – noting that the country has not lived up to its economic potential.

KB Asante called on members on the Planning Committee to learn from the mistakes of the past and live up expectation.
