Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan is set for MRI scan to know the extent of injury suffered against Egypt in the final group game played in Stade Port Gentil.
The striker limped off in the first half of the team’s 1-0 loss to Egypt and was replaced by Jordan Ayew. Gyan will have an MRI test to determine the extent of his injury.
“I felt a stretch in my leg but I don’t know the extent of the injury,” he told Asempa FM.
“I am in pain now so I will go for MRI scan so we can see the extent of the injury.
“The injury is fresh so it makes it painful but the MRI is going to determine how long it will take me to return back to the pitch.
“We will see if there was a tear but as at now I am in pain. I am able to walk but when I try to change direction that is where I try to feel the pains but football is played through change of directions so we will see what happens after the scan,” Gyan explained.
Gyan, who was making his 99th appearance for Ghana blamed the injury on the poor pitch at the Stade Port Gentil.
Ghana will travel to the city of Oyem where they will face the Democratic Republic of Congo on Sunday in the quarter finals.
