Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan says he wants coach Avram Grant to keep his new shirt on after the Black Stars registered a win in their first Group D game at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
The Black Stars beat Uganda by a lone goal courtesy an Andre Ayew penalty in the first half of the game.
Grant who is guiding Ghana to a second consecutive Cup of Nations became famous for keeping a particular blue stripped polo shirt for almost two years without losing a competitive game with the Black Stars.
However, the Black Stars recently lost to Egypt in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, forcing Avram Grant to ditch the famous blue shirt.
At this 2017 AFCON, Grant has been spotted with another polo shirt which is dark blue in colour.
With Ghana getting off on a winning note, Captain Asamoah Gyan says he wants Grant to keep wearing the new shirts as long as it brings the team good luck.
“I hope he will keep it for the next two years,” Gyan said amid laughter when asked by a journalist if Grant should wear the new shirt after the win over Uganda.
Ghana’s next game at the tournament will be against Mali on Saturday, January 21.
