Ghana Football Association’s Technical Director, Oti Akenten has stated that Ghana’s final World Cup Qualification clash with Egypt on Sunday is very crucial to the team’s preparation towards AFCON 2019“.
According to him, Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah is expected to win the 2019 African Cup of Nations therefore he has to take advantage of every encounter to assess his players before the AFCON.
“The target set for Coach Kwesi Appiah by the FA, is to win AFCON 2019, therefore since we couldn’t qualify for the 2018 World Cup he has decided to use these games as preparations towards the AFCON”, he told Asempa sports.
The technical director also added that, Ghana has to win on Sunday against Egypt to boost our position on the FIFA rankings”.
“We also have to beat Egypt to boost our position on the FIFA rankings. We have defeated Egypt 6-0 before so we can do it again”.
