Sarkodie is the most visible rap artiste on the continent – D Black

CEO of Black Avenue Muzik (BAM), Desmond Kwesi Blackmore also known as D-Black has lauded Ghanaian BET award-winning rapper, Sarkodie for standing out as the best rapper on the African continent.
Speaking to host Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, the ‘Vera’ hit maker debunked the assertion that Nigerians are taking over the African Music industry hence they are more talented than Ghanaians.
According to him, the talents of Nigerian artistes have only sprung up due to several visible factors such as their population and their eagerness to infuse funds into their entertainment industry.
In spite of this, D Black insisted that, there are lots of talents in Ghana especially powerful vocal artistes that are ready to put Ghana on the map if immensely supported and backed by the music industry.
“For me right now the most visible rap artiste on the continent is not a Nigerian. It’s Sarkodie. Right now there is a lot of Nigerian talent because they have the numbers. There are so many talents here. There are so many vocal artistes here that need the marketing and platform. To visually see these artistes, it doesn’t happen…” he said.
The rapper continued that, “We don’t invest like Nigerians. Our videos are not up to scratch. Most of their videos have the international calibre. We don’t spend much to push like the Nigerians…”.
D Black further urged the industry players to unite in promoting Ghanaian music videos onto popular entertainment channels across the sub-region.
He said: “I think that is the way our music can be seen aside the internet. That step isn’t there…”.
D black is currently promoting his new song featuring Bisa Kdei dubbed: ‘Julie’.
