Afro-pop songstress, eShun born as Ethel Eshun has advised various Ghanaian musicians to adapt social media as a ‘powerful’ tool to enrich their careers.
Aside the negative effects of the social platform, she said it has many advantages that can usher entertainers into a ‘solid’ limelight.
In an interview with host Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, the ‘Didadi’ song maker revealed that she has learnt to better her career brand from videos that she put on social media.
According to her, respective feedback and criticisms of fans on social media can make an artiste soar higher in the music industry.
“Social media has come to help even though it has its bad side. Artistes don’t usually put their stuff out there. I will encourage artistes that at every show no matter what should record. That is how they learn. I sometimes watch my video and I regret at some things but I learn from them…” she said.
She added that, “I still learn. I’m always on learning. Social media is here to help, use the platform. Most people are not using it reason they don’t see its benefit…”.
Nonetheless, eShun said she drew a lot of motivation as a musician from Music Producer and CEO of Slip Music, Mark Okraku Mantey during her ‘MTN Hitmaker’ moments.
She added that, even though he was persistent in criticizing her, it channeled her towards the limelight in the industry.
“Reality shows help depending on the artiste. If you are serious with what they judges say its helps. Mark Okraku was so hard on me. He was really hard and just after the show when you get close to him he will explain your wrongs to you and if you take it helps you…” she lauded.
“I wanted to go home. I was in Nigeria and they were airing it at 12am in Nigeria. I was on probation every week. I nearly gave up but it gave me a tough skin and that shook me up…”she revealed.
Meanwhile, eShun and Rap Heavy-weight FlowKing Stone have teamed up on the hit song dubbed: ‘Someone Loves Me’.
“I choose FlowKing stone because he is dynamic. I wanted someone modern who is a rapper but hi-life oriented too…” she said.
