Ghana International midfielder, Thomas Partey, is happy for making CAF‘s 30-man shortlist for the 2017 Player of the Year Award.
Partey has been superb this year for both club and country and has even earned a place in the starting line-up of Atletico Madrid.
Also on the list is another Ghanaian star, Christian Atsu who has been in sparkling form at Newcastle United, helping them to gain promotion back to the English Premier League and is doing well in the Premier League.
Thomas Partey has reacted positively to the news describing it as an honour while expressing happiness that Atsu was also included in the list.
“I am honoured to be nominated for African Player of the Year. Representing Ghana together with Christian Atsu,” the Athletico Madrid Star told a close pal.
Partey and Atsu’s nomination came as a result of their contributions in this year’s AFCON as well as the Black Stars qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
CAF released the 30-man shortlist for the 2017 awards on their official website on Wednesday. They will compete with the likes of Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, Senegal’s Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon and Borussia Dortmund for a place in the final three short list to mount the podium for the award.
