Editor of Kotoko Express, Jerome Otchere has disclosed that management of Asante Kotoko appointed Zdravko Lugarusic as head coach because the club needed a coach who can turn things around.
Asante Kotoko has not been in the best of forms in recent times.
The Porcupine Warriors will be hoping to rejuvenate their form under coach Zdravko and Jerome believes he is the best bet for the club.
“The club did a lot of consultations and after several meetings, we felt Zdravko can work with the club.
“He has been in the country before and he has coached King Faisal, later he joined Ashgold in the following season and with the kind of support Kotoko has we believe we can push him up there to achieve what is good for us,” he said.
Jerome Otchere further revealed that the Croatian trainer has penned a two-year contract.
“We have given him a two year contract and what I am pleased about is that the management has told him to win all domestic cups and help the club go to Africa and we believe it is very realistic and the coach himself understands that.
“Kotoko is a big club and if you are a coach and come to the club and with all the necessary support available, if you fail to win domestic titles then you aren’t fit to coach the club and he understands that principle. He has admitted that he knows the pressure at the club and if he fails to achieve no one will tell him to go but he will rather leave”.
