Caretaker coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Michael Osei would now revert to the position of Assistant Coach for the club.
The former player of the Kumasi-based side was elevated to the status of a caretaker coach in 2015 after the departure of head coach, David Duncan.
Michael Osei guided the team to a top six finish beating bitterest rivals, Hearts of Oak in the first round of the 2014/2015 premier league and drawing with the team in Kumasi.
Michael Osei also beat Hearts of Oak to win the President’s Cup.
There were several calls for his appointment as substantive coach of the side but the Dr Kwasi Kyei-led administration opted for Croatian trainer, Zdravko Lugarosic.
His appointment as Assistant Coach was confirmed by Kotoko Express editor, Jerome Otchere on Asempa Sports.
“The management met interim coach Michael Osei and he agreed to continue as assistant to Croatian Lugarosic. We did this because we needed a coach who can turn things around for the club and we believe Zdravko can do that and with what Dr. Kyei has started doing, it is an indication he knows what he is doing”, Jerome Otchere said.
