Mensah would welcome Boateng & Muntari for AFCON

-

Jonathan Mensah has admitted that Ghana would need the ‘experience’ of Las Palmas midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

The two players are facing indefinite suspension from the Ghana Football Association following disciplinary issues at the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil and have not represented the country since then.

“Kevin-Prince Boateng is a very good player. I know he would even want to play in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations tournament before the 2018 World Cup. If he deserves to be invited, why not?” Mensah told Pulse.com.gh.

“It’s up to the coach and management of the team to decide but I think every good player deserves the chance to play for the Black Stars.

“Same goes for Sulley Muntari, who can even help the team with his experience. I am open to their return if invited,” he added.

Ghana, who are in search of their first Afcon title since 1982, have been paired with Egypt, Uganda and Mali in Group D.

Head coach Grant is expected to announce his provisional squad next week before the team leaves Ghana to continue their preparations in United Arab Emirates.
