Government is assuring of justice following the killing of a 29-year-old Nana Buah by a Chinese illegal miner at Wassa Akropong in the Western region.

Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Benito Owusu-Bio said no foreigner will be allowed to go scot-free after killing an indigene.

This comes after a Takoradi District Court on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 remanded a Chinese illegal miner, Jiang Gen Hai who allegedly to have shot and killed Nana Buah, a Ghanaian lotto operator during an argument on some business transaction.

The Wassa Akropong area which had played host to many Chinese nationals due to mining activities went agog last Friday over the shooting incident, with properties of the Chinese nationals completely burnt by the youth of the area.

The retaliatory effects from the youth forced more than 100 Chinese residing in the community to relocate to neighbouring towns under security guard.

Jiang Gen Hai was arrested and arranged before court. He pleaded not guilty but his plea was not taken.

He is to reappear in court on Thursday, October 26, 2017.

He revealed that, in their meeting with the Chinese Ambassador, Sun Boahong, she stressed they won’t endorsed any criminality.

The deputy Lands and Natural Resources Minister maintained that government will not compromise on its position to protect the lands and river bodies in the country.

Hon. Owusu-Bio appealed for calm especially among the youth at Wassa Akropong for the law to take it cause.
