The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) is expected to submit to government its report on last Saturday’s gas explosion at Atomic Junction in Accra by the end of this week.
Seven persons died from the Saturday night ghastly blast with over 100 others suffering various degrees of injuries.
The explosion occurred when a gas tanker was discharging its content at the Mansco gas station.
The fire service has said their investigations into the accident is almost completed after gathering evidence from the scene.
Public Relations Director at GNFS, Prince Billy Anaglatey told Adom News, the Service has communicated with all the people whose accounts of the explosion are key to the final report and will be submitted to government for necessary action.
He cautioned people trading around the explosion site to stop until further notice.
He added that Act 537 of the Fire Service law spells out their role in terms of protection of life and properties and they will enforce part of the law which demands that all filling stations get Fire service personnel at post during offloading of gas or fuel to help prevent possible fire outbreaks.
But despite caution from GNFS, traders and taxi drivers have paid no heed to the warning and have started trading around the same place and are even calling on government to help them because business activity have really gone down after the incident.
