Member of Parliament for the Asuom constituency in the Eastern Region, Kwabena Ohemeng Tinyaase says he will not rule out arson in connection with the fire that destroyed the boy’s dormitory of the Asuom Senior High School (SHS).
The fire started around 7am Sunday morning when students were at church service, destroying several properties belonging to the male students.
In all, three rooms were affected by the fire. Properties in one of the rooms were completely consumed by the fire.
A teacher of the school who doubles as assembly man for the area said he first noticed smoke billowing from one of the rooms which is very close to his residence.
According to Abrefa Busia, students were called to help salvage the situation while they await for personnel of the Ghana fire service.
But Mr Ohemeng Tinyaase told Adom News in the meantime, a temporary accommodation has been provided for the students
He however added that, he is not going to rule out all the factors that would have led to the fire outbreak, therefore calling on the police to be swift in the investigations.
