FBNBank Ghana, a subsidiary of First Bank Nigeria, has pledged its long-term support for made in Ghana goods.
Managing Director of the bank, Gbenga Odeyemi made the promise at the commissioning of a permanent Ghana office of the bank.
He said the opening of the office, which also houses the Airport branch, was a demonstration of the bank’s long-term commitment to the growth of local business and the overall development of the country.
Odeyemi said the bank will go beyond just business as usually and deliver real value and long-lasting impactful support to both corporate and individual clients, particularly small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs).
“We have a long-term vision to be the clear leader in Ghana’s banking sector by discouraging over reliance on imported products and promoting made in Ghana goods,” he said.
This he believes, can be achieved by supporting SMEs with innovative economic strategies.
“We hail government’s effort to promote made in Ghana goods. For this reason we intend to introduce our Export Financing Instruments that will help boost local production of some basic goods for consumption and export,” he said.
Meanwhile, the banks has also launched the FBNBank Save and Win Promo to reward customers who have stayed loyalty to the bank over the last four years with delightful prizes.
CEO of First Bank Nigeria, Dr. Awesome Kazeem Adedetun stated the bank’s readiness to meet the Bank of Ghana (BoG) minimum capital requirements for banks, which is now set at GHC400 million beginning December 2018.
