Legendary Ghanaian highlife musician, Abirekyieba Kofi Sammy has said he enjoys listening to BET award-winning rapper Michael Owusu, popularly known as Sarkodie.
The renowned musician noted for his hit song ‘Yellow Sisi’ disclosed the current crop of musicians’ lack ‘ingenuity’ in their songs.
“Musicians should be ready to be trained to do good music. Some don’t even know musical keys. Their songs aren’t emotional presently. Why would Music Videos have alcohol, weed and other substances in them? What does it teach the young kids of today…?” he queried.
But In an interview on Adom FM’s Drive Time Show ‘Ofie Kwanso’, Abirekyieba Sammy commended Sarkodie for his ability to touch hearts through his songs.
He added that, Sarkodie unlike other artistes offer education to his fans through his songs.
“One person whose song really touches my heart is Sarkodie even though he is into the rap genre. He really advice’s a lot and touches hearts as well…” he maintained.
According to Abirekyieba Kofi Sammy, he is keen to provide the foundation of highlife music to Sarkodie should he want to venture the famous Ghanaian genre.
Other Ghanaians artistes he expressed his love for were Samini and Obrafour respectively.
“If it were left to me I think he [Sarkodie] will be a great hi-life musician. He doesn’t have the foundation in hi-life. If he is given that, he will really touch a lot of hearts…” he explained.
“I really liked Samini too. I will collaborate with Sarkodie, Samini or Obrafour. Obrafour doesn’t rush with his lyrics. Sarkodie takes time to lyrically advice…” he said.
