Teacher trainees appeal to gov’t to pay feeding grant

-

Teacher Trainees in the country are making a passionate appeal to government to pay their feeding grant.

The Acting President of the Teacher Trainees Association, Apam Jonathan in an interview on Adom News said feeding grants in their colleges of education are borne solely by government.

But the second semester of the 2016/2017academic year he noted has not been paid to the colleges, a situation he describes as very worrying.

According to him, assurances from Vice President, Amissah Arthur during a campaign tour at Fosu College of education, that an amount of fifty million Ghana cedis has been released through the GET fund as teacher trainees feeding grant have not materialised.

Apam Jonathan indicated that no college of education has received any such grant.

The Teacher Trainees have therefore asked government to resolve the issue within two days or face the consequences.

He added that the principals of the colleges of education are insisting that teacher trainees pay the cost of feeding or they risk not being registered for the semester’s examination.
