Fifty brilliant needy students have been awarded scholarships under the Multimedia EDUCARE 2017.
The 50 beneficiaries will have their three-year SHS education fully paid for by EDUCARE. The scholarship will not only cater for their tuition fees but also provide pocket money and cover all other educational expenses they might incur while they are in school.
The scheme instituted in 2008 was a part of Multimedia’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in its bid to contribute to building the Human Resource base of Ghana.
Speaking at a ceremony to award the scholarships, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the EDUCARE Fund, Very Reverend Ama Afo Blay said the fund was set up to help contribute towards building the requisite human resources for the development of the nation.
She advised the beneficiaries to work hard at their studies to order to make MGL and their parents proud.
A member the EDUCARE Board Board Vicky Wireko Andoh said the Multimedia scholarship scheme is aimed at providing students with the motivation they deserve to climb the educational ladder in life by obliterating the burden of their parents.
She advised the 50 beneficiaries to take their books as their companions to excel in their studies
“The Multimedia EDUCARE gives extras and motivation these children need to go on. The urging of them to be their best yet if they don’t perform or have bad behaviour would be taken back. A lot have passed through our hands and have done well. We hope you work hard to deliver…” she added.
Also, a member of the Board, Mrs Elizabeth Eson Benjamin urged the students to attain superlative grades to pursue tertiary education.
“To study medicine or law, your scores should be in superlatives. To study law you have to read extensively. It takes that knowledge base to be a lawyer. You have to do well in school so your transcripts read well. Don’t relax. There is no rest. It’s not automatic. It will be passed on to someone else if you are not performing…”
On behave of the beneficiaries, Marvin Kyei Baffour and Samira Yussif express their gratitude to Multimedia Group Limited to helping them achieve their aims in the life.
They promised to work hard at their studies in order to make MGL and their parents proud.
Some parents of the beneficiaries thanked MGL for the opportunity the EDUCARE Fund has provided for their children to pursue their studies and said they can heave a sigh of relief now because a huge burden has been lifted off their shoulders.
“We are very happy. We fell excited and it’s a great relief for Multimedia to bless us. God bless them exceptionally. We thank them for what they are doing for Ghana”.
