Women’s World Cup: Princesses face elimination after France draw

-

The Black Princesses could possibly be eliminated from the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup finals after they conceded a late goal to draw 2-2 with France in their second Group C match on Thursday.

Clara Mateo got the equalizer in injury time with a blistering header to grab a point for the French.

France took the lead in 38 minutes through Delphine Cascarino but striker Sandra Owusu Ansah equalized for the Princesses in the 44th minute.

Janet Ayieyam gave the Princesses the lead in the 65th minute when she put in her foot to toe poke into the net after a shoddy defending by France in front of their area.

Ghana could have made it 3-1 but Samira Abdul Rahman failed to convert a penalty when she fired a feeble shot into the path of Mylene Chavas who punched it away.

But France did not give up and kept on piling pressure until a decent cross was met by Mateo in the air found its way into the net and goalkeeper, Victoria Agyei could do little.
