Include us in the creation of new regions – Surveyors to Gov’t

-

The Ghana Institute of Surveyors (GIS) has appealed to government to collaborate with them in the creation of the additional regions to avoid any conflict between chiefs over boundaries.
Chairman of the Institute, John K Amaglo told Adom News that the role of surveyors is not limited to the protection of the environment, but also to the development of laws, land administration, property and facility management, cost and price analysis and ensuring value for money.
The surveyors, he said can help in the demarcation of boundaries so as to avoid conflict between regions.
John Amaglo has therefore appealed to the Government to consider the active involvement of their members to ensure a smooth exercise.
“The land surveyors would be the best people to be used by the government since they are the professionals who know the various boundaries and can help with the demarcation to avoid confusion…,” he said.
During the campaign for the 2016 elections, Nana Addo promised the people of the Western region that when he is given the nod, he would initiate the creation of a new region out of the Western region, to be called Western North region.
The President upon assumption of office has started putting in place measures including the creation of the Ministry of Regional Organisation and Development to ensure the creation of the additional regions.
Deputy Minister for Regional Reorganization and Development, Martin Adjei Mensah-Korsah welcomed their call and said that government will work hand in hand with them.
