Audio: NDC leaders are just confused – Azorka

-

Northern Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described as confused members of his party who keep on blaming former President Mahama for the party’s loss in the 2016 general elections.

According to Sofo Azorka, indiscipline and arrogance of power by his party leaders caused the defeat of the NDC, therefore it is ‘unwise’ to blame former President for the defeat.

“Sometimes I feel very sad when these people who refused to help the party win blame Mahama for the party’s defeat. I think they are all confused especially Bugri Naabu’s brother and Kwabena Adjei. Mahama is not an angel to go to constituency by constituency and settle them financially and so I blame myself as well as all members of the party especially the leaders” he said.

Mr. Sofo Azorka was speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosi Sen Thursday in reaction to claims that former President Mahama failed to resource the party which resulted in the NDC’s defeat at the polls.

The NDC lost the 2016 general polls, both Presidential and Parliamentary in an election that the party was so confident of winning, due to the massive infrastructural development carried out by President John Mahama in his first term of office.

The NDC’s painful defeat suffered at the hands of its arch political opponent has caused some angry and disappointed members to mention names of certain key party and government officials whose actions and inactions they claim caused the NDC’s downfall.

But reacting to the issue, Mr. Azorka blamed the party’s defeat in the December polls to the arrogance of some ministers of state and Members of Parliament who have no political experience.

He said these people were all allowed too much space and authority to run the show around the President, which he believes contributed to the painful defeat of the NDC in the December 7 polls.

Mr. Azorka accused party officials of amassing wealth and doing very little to help the fortune of the party in the elections.

But Mr. Azorka believed the party lost miserably because some persons who surrounded the President continued to block access to the President and giving him false information just to keep their positions.

This notwithstanding, the NDC Chairman vowed to resist any attempt to allow persons he describes as “incompetent” to work closely with John Mahama if he should be elected as the flagbearer of the NDC in the future.
