There was controversy at the Diamond Pub and Grill Spot at East Legon in Accra when a task force from the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) tried to demolish the structure.
The facility is owned by Shatta Michy, significant other half of Ghanaian dancehall musician, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr. a.k.a. Shatta Wale and was among some structures lying within the East Legon Green Belt zone – which had been earmarked for demolition.
But in an interview with Shatta Wale on Adom FM’s Kasahari Level, the Dancehall Champion disclosed that even though the demolition was to affect structures in the Green Belt zone, Shatta Michy was the only target for the AMA.
“When I came to Ghana, I heard they [AMA] are clearing everyone on that lane. It was a greenbelt operation. But I realised they haven’t sacked anyone apart from Mitchy…” he said.
According to him, his sources informed him that a faceless rich woman was behind the action of the AMA despite she having a bigger land to operate on.
“I was told it is a rich woman who wanted the land even though she has a big land behind the pub. She insisted she wanted Shatta Michy’s land. Sometimes people have money and don’t have happiness. I call them poor people even though she has a car but she is poor…” he added.
The ‘Taking over’ hit maker expressed his gross disappointment in such actions against his partner since he believes the dreams of a hardworking mother shouldn’t be crushed in such manner.
“You can’t worry a young girl who wants to come up like this. She is not standing at the roadside. I have told her to relax but she wants to do something. If you do things like this it means you are not educating the young girls in the society to work hard…” he added.
