Photos+Audio: Gomoa Ojobi residents demonstrate against illegal sand winning

Residents of Gomoa Ojobi in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region have declared war against illegal sand winning in the area.
According to them, they have been troubled by illegal sand contractors due to the influx of Land guards hired by the sand contractors to unleash mayhem on whoever protested their actions.
The angry youth said their decision comes on the back of series of attacks by some thugs believed to have been hired by some sand winners in their bid to protest their actions.
To express their discontent with recent and past happenings, residents decided to stage a demonstration today.
Leader of the youth group who also doubles as the Gomoa Kweikrom Unit Committee Secretary Daniel Kofi Agyeman told Adom News’ Kofi Adjei that all they need is justice by bringing the perpetrators to book.
“All that we need is justice because we can’t continue risking our lives with these people around. Our only option right now is protest and drum home our problems” he said.
Daniel Kofi Agyeman therefore called on the President, chiefs and elders of the area to help curb the operations of sand winners.
