Relief items dispatched to Tamale – NADMO

-

Persons affected by destructive floods in the Tamale Metropolis in the Northern Region can now heave a sigh of relief as the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has dispatched relief items to the area.
Deputy Director General of NADMO, Abu Ramadan disclosed this on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday.
Torrential rains in Tamale have left many parts of the city flooded with hundreds of residents displaced.

Some victims are sleeping in the open and in some places residents have resorted to open defecation after their only place of convenience was destroyed.

Though relief was immediately promised by Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia during his visit, they are yet to reach the affected.
But Abu Ramadan on Ekosii Sen maintained that the delay though regrettable was due to lack of funds.
However, he said trucks full of clothes, food stuffs, mattresses, mosquito nets, buckets and other items have been dispatched to the area.
The NADMO Deputy Director indicated that even though eight districts have been affected, the items sent will be more than enough for the affected victims.
“I can tell you on authority that relief items have been sent to Tamale. One truck full of clothes and other items will get to affected victims by close of today” he stated.
Abu Ramadan said they will also add a team of health professional to prevent any epidemic in the affected area.
