Allegations against Charlotte Osei are ugly – John Boadu

-

Acting General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu has described the allegations against the Electoral Commission Chair, Charlotte Kesson-Smith Osei as ‘ugly and scandalous’ to the country.
Some aggrieved employees of the Electoral Commission (EC) have petitioned President Nana Akufo-Addo to dismiss the Chairperson of the Commission, Charlotte Osei.
The employees in a statement insisted Mrs. Osei should be impeached for among others, bringing the “Commission’s name into disrepute by single highhandedly petitioning EOCO on an alleged misappropriation of staff endowment fund for malicious reasons…”
But according to Mr Boadu, the integrity of the Electoral Commission is at stake and if such allegations are true.
“We have to focus on the happenings of EC. It ugly, it’s painful and scandalizes all of us as a people. The integrity of the EC is very important…”
“If our democracy will prosper under President Akufo-Addo’s administration then EC should be a transparent referee…” he said on Accra based Neat FM.
He further queried why the EC Chair, Madam Charlotte Osei will implement the electronic transmission or collating of results some few months to the 2016 polls when there were issues to be resolved.
“With the electronic transmission of results, it was implemented a few months to the 2016 polls and we were not aware…”
“We knew there were major challenges involved. A lot of people must me trained. Do you think I am a ‘fool’ to support something like this, something with the potential to destroy the whole country…?” John Boadu quizzed.
