I remain leader of PNC – Dr. Edward Mahama

The 2016 flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Dr. Edward Nasigri Mahama says he is still leader of the party.
According to him, his new position as an Ambassador-at-large under the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) administration does not affect his function in the PNC.
His comment comes after the National Chairman of the PNC hinted that the Mr. Mahama will be sanctioned for accepting a position in the Akufo-Addo government.
Bernard Mornah indicated that, their flagbearer accepted the appointment without the approval of the party.
But Dr. Edward Mahama on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday said he does need permission from the party.
He explained that, until the PNC goes to congress to vote him out of office, he remains leader of the party.
The failed presidential hopeful said he will not let party interest override his love and commitment to impact positively in the country.
“I am taking this position because the president thinks that there are specific things he wants me to do…whenever he asks me to do I will do it to the glory of God and the president. Anybody who said I shouldn’t do anything for Ghana because my party is not in power I don’t agree with them” he added.
Dr. Edward Mahama who has been the party’s long-serving flagbearer said he did not need the blessing of his party before he could accept the appointment explaining that it is not arrangement between the party and the current government.
