The Bulk Oil Storage and Transport (BOST) made a whopping GHC 1.5 million from the sale of the five (5) million off-spec fuel which disposal have become a topic of national discourse.
The amount was realized after Alfred Obeng Boateng, the Managing Director of BOST, chose to sell the off spec oil at a price higher than previously sold.
“Previously, they had been selling the contaminated oil for 0.80 pesewas per litre, however, Alfred Boateng ensured that he sold a litre for as much as 1.30 which was way higher and hence realized a profit of GHC 1.5 million from its sale, so he deserves to be commended…,” Member of Parliament for Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese, Elvis Maurice Donkor said on Adom FM’s Morning Show, ‘Dwaso Nsem’ Wednesday.
Five million litres of fuel product was declared off-spec after going through an in-house technical assessment and a laboratory test by the Tema Oil Refinery.
It followed what BOST termed as “human error” which led to the contamination of the product.
Calls for the immediate interdiction of Alfred Obeng Boateng was not heeded after the BNI cleared him of any wrong doing.
The staff of BOST had claimed that the controversy over the sale of contaminated fuel is serving no purpose other than to distract from the financial rot overseen by the immediate past BOST Managing Director, Kingsley Kwame Awuah-Darko.
Elvis Maurice Donkor said the MD of BOST deserves to be commended for making profits from the sale of the off-spec fuel other than the numerous condemnations.
To the MP, the BOST MD deserves to be awarded for this ‘record sale’.
“He made profit to the state and he deserves an award for helping the state make profit and not condemned…he sold it for 1.30 pesewas which was a record never seen before…if I happen to be the President, I would have awarded him…,” he said.
The Legislator further slammed the Minority for calling for the head of the BOST MD arguing that the numerous press conferences held by the Minority are just ‘noisy attempts’ to attract attention.
