Crystal Palace forward Eddie Nketiah has expressed his willingness to play for Ghana at the international level, following years of uncertainty with England’s senior national team.
Born in Lewisham to Ghanaian parents, Nketiah has long been on the radar of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
Though he represented England at every youth level and even received a senior call-up in 2023 for matches against Scotland and Ukraine, the former Arsenal striker has struggled to secure a consistent place in Gareth Southgate’s squad.
Speaking on The Beautiful Game podcast, Nketiah signaled a shift in perspective regarding his international future.
“When I was younger, representing England was an option after progressing through the youth system. But if Ghana invites me, then I’ll be there.”
The 25-year-old has endured a challenging season at Crystal Palace, managing just one goal and one assist across 25 appearances.
Despite his club struggles, Nketiah’s potential switch in allegiance could provide a timely boost for the Black Stars, who are still seeking reliable options up front ahead of key international fixtures.
